Le Meridien Hotel in Barcelona, SpainLuxury in the Exciting Heart of the City

Conveniently located on Barcelona’s popular and exciting La Rambla, just a few blocks from La Boqueria, one of the world’s great food markets, Le Méridien Hotel is a terrific choice for travelers who want both luxurious accommodations and easy access to the city’s sights.

Luxurious suite at Le Meridien Hotel

The luxurious suites offer plenty of room to stretch out.

Barcelona, like many Spanish cities, is notoriously noisy. Le Méridien’s rooms are actually located on a side street just off La Rambla, so you get the excitement of being in the center of the city without all the street noise.

This Starwood property offers 233 rooms and 41 suites, decorated in modern chic with lots of chrome, glass, and slate. All the rooms offer flat screen TVs, mini-bars, fluffy robes, and elegant toiletries.

The service, of course, is Starwood quality, with polite, multi-lingual staff eager to meet your every need. At check-in, guests are offered a voucher for free espresso drinks for two at their Illy Café and two free passes to the
Modern Art Museum down the street. Starwood Preferred guests have their own floors and get free bottled water, fresh green apples, and English language newspapers.

The standard rooms at Le Méridien are comfortable, though small (not uncommon for European hotels). If it’s in your budget, opt for one of Le Méridien’s suites, which are at least twice the size with floor-to-ceiling doors that open onto huge, private, tiled balconies with loungers and tables and chairs where you can enjoy the fresh air and the city views. The suites also feature large showers and deep soaking tubs (standard rooms have shower only).

Le Méridien’s suites feature large, tiled balconies that afford great city views.

The combination of Le Méridien’s gracious amenities, excellent service and central – and surprisingly quiet — location in one the most exciting cities in the world, make this hotel a realfoodtraveler favorite that we’ll return to again and again and one we recommend without hesitation.
