She was nominated for the award by the Regina Regina Opportunity Commission (RROC) for a series of articles she wrote on Saskatchewan. They include “The 24-Hour Royal Canadian Mountie,” her story about living and working as a RCCMP Cadet at the Depot Training Center in Regina; “Fortuna Ristorante Italiano: A New Italian Winner in Regina, Saskatchewan;” and “Italian Star Deli: Authentic Italian Deliciousness,” published in realfoodtraveler and “Why Regina is Canada’s New Foodie Hot Spot” published on

Tourism Saskatchewan says more than 110 nominations were received in the 15 award categories. Finalists and award recipients will be honored at the 24thannual Saskatchewan Tourism Awards of Excellence Gala on April 25 at the Conexus Arts Centre in Regina.

“These individuals and businesses that are being honored on April 25 have demonstrated their deep commitment to excellence, innovation and success of our province’s tourism sector,” said Pat Fiacco, Tourism Saskatchewan CEO, said. “Through their fine work, visitors are treated to remarkable hospitality and experiences the kind that they will long to repeat. The Saskatchewan Tourism Awards of Excellence will be a proud night for our industry and it is a privilege for Tourism Saskatchewan to host this celebration that pays tribute to many great people, events and businesses.”

Bobbie will be traveling in Texas on the evening of the awards, but, if she wins the Travel Media Award, the RROC host who nominated her will accept the award for her. As you know, Bobbie is no stranger to awards for her writing. Last year, she won Canada’s first-ever Award of Excellence for Culinary Writing, co-sponsored by Canada Tourism Commission and Food Day Canada, for her story “A Taste of the Garden.” The year before, her story “Eastern Townships: For the Love of Lavender,” won a Northern Lights Award.
