As more people explore vegan and vegetarian options we want to bring RFT readers authoritative coverage. Teresa Bergen, a vegetarian for more than 30 years and author of Vegetarian Asia Travel Guide, brings that expertise.
Teresa, who has a B.A. in journalism from U.C. Santa Cruz and an MFA in fiction writing from Louisiana State University, has written many articles for Examiner.com as a Portland Vegetarian Examiner. Her stories have appeared in both print and online publications, including India Currents, Ms., South China Morning Post, Vegan Voices, The Literary Traveler, Offbeat Travel, MSN Healthy Living, Whole Life Times and Livestrong.com. She also writes and Veg Travel and Fitness blog which covers vegetarianism, travel and fitness, especially where they intersect (e.g. workouts when traveling, vegetarian restaurants in other cities, interviews with vegetarians in other countries).
In addition to being a vegetarian and a journalist, Teresa is a yoga and group exercise instructor and personal trainer.
Teresa says, “Realfoodtraveler.com is very well done and has good design and great content. I’m proud to play a bigger role at RFT. Although sometimes I’ll indulge in a shot of maple syrup, as I admitted in my recent Quebec article, I like finding those foods that are both delicious and relatively healthy.”
In the coming months, Teresa will bring stories on the veg scene in Southern California; surfing and vegging in Plaza del Sur, Nicaragua; upscale dining as a vegetarian in trendy Portland, Oregon; holiday foods for vegetarians; San Francisco vegetarian restaurants; holiday gifts for your vegetarian pals, and more.
Please join us in welcoming Teresa Bergen as Realfoodtraveler.com’s first Vegan/Vegetarian Editor.
