One thing that sets realfoodtraveler.com apart from the many food/travel websites out there is our writers who consistently win awards from the top travel and food writing organizations. Two realfoodtraveler.com stories, “Obermeyer: Ski Clothes for Real Women” and “Kosrae: Diving into Paradise,” both written by RFT’s Ski and Dive Editor Yvette Cardozo, recently won awards from the Western Chapter of the Society of American Travel Writers (SATW).
Yvette won Silver in the Service Article category for her fun and humorous review of Obermeyer ski clothing, a story she calls “ski fat.” She also won a Bronze in the Internet Travel category for her cool and tantalizing story on diving the island of Kosrae. SATW is the largest and most prestigious professional association for travel journalists in the United States.
No stranger to awards for her writing, veteran travel writer Yvette recently took First Place in April in the Culinary Internet category in the highly-competitive Northern Lights Awards sponsored by the Canadian Tourism Commission at Canada Media Marketplace in San Francisco. RFT Editor-in-Chief Bobbie Hasselbring won that same award the previous year with her RFT story “A Chinese Food Marathon in Richmond.” Also last year, Yvette’s RFT story, “The Brave New World of Travel Underwear (and More),” a tongue-in-cheek review of travel underwear earned her a Silver in the Service Article category in SATW’s Western Chapter.
Congratulations Yvette! For more award-winning travel and food writing, keep reading realfoodtraveler.com—and tell your friends and family!
