Turkey Day Recipe Blitz!

Carving a Thanksgiving Day turkeyThat all-American holiday, Thanksgiving, is just around the corner. As a foodie, it’s one of my favorite holidays and an excuse to try new and classic recipes and, well, over-indulge a bit.

To celebrate, we’re going to be publishing our Turkey Day Recipe Blitz every day between now and Nov. 27. You’re going to think we’ve morphed into Cooking.com or Recipe.com, but, never fear, our usual culinary and other travel stories, and product, restaurant and hotel reviews will be back soon. However, for the next eight days, we’re going to be giving you a number of recipes we think will add to your holiday table.

Bite-sized sweet potato pies for the Thanksgiving table.

These bite-sized sweet potato pies are perfect for the Thanksgiving table.

We start with Fall-inspired Cocktail recipes to get you in the holiday mood. These come from our friends at Whiteface Lodge in the Adirondacks. They’ll inspire you with flavors of apple pie, celery, and cranberries.

Caramelized Butternut Squash as a side dish

Caramelized Butternut Squash mkes a deliciously healthful side dish.

Then we’ll move on recipes like Maple Dumplings, little pockets of heaven with a maple flavor; Smoked Trout from British Columbia, a delightful appetizer for your guests; and Caramelized Butternut Squash, a perfectly delicious and healthy side dish for your holiday table. How about a different take on stuffing that bird?

On Friday, Nov. 21, we’ll give you a sweet and savory recipe for Panettone Stuffing, made with classic Italian Christmas bread. You can also look forward to recipes for Farro Risotto, Sweet Potato Pie, and Lavender Bars, a recipe we got when we traveled this fall to Bella Coola Mountain Lodge in British Columbia.

Stuffing made with panetonne

How about upping the flavor quotient of your stuffing by making it with panettone?

We hope you’ll enjoy these holiday recipes. It’s our way of saying thanks for being part of the realfoodtraveler.com family. Cheers! – Bobbie Hasselbring, RFT Editor
