It’s easy to find unusual and delicious food products at Hatchery

Hatchery’s buyers have the job I want. They travel the country going to farmer’s marketing, visiting family farms, traveling the back roads and byways to find unique and unusual flavors of products made by passionate people. These products are so unique and different you’ll be amazed at the creativity and deliciousness of these makers.

Our editors sampled a number of interesting Hatchery products:

Hatchery box

Hatchery products arrive carefully wrapped in a beautiful box.

Strawberry & Chocolate from Jam Lab is decadent. Organic strawberries and organic chocolate combine to offer the bright flavor of fresh strawberries with just a lilt of rich chocolate.

Sugar Royale Chocolate & Almond from Meso Nutso is a mixture of organic cane sugar, organic roasted cacao powder and almond extract. It’s sweet with background notes of smoky chocolate flavor and rich almond. On tasting, one RFT Editor exclaimed, “This one makes me want to bake snickerdoodles and sprinkle the top with them.”

This delicious combo would be great added to drinks, syrups, and sprinkled on desserts. We rolled chocolate ganache in it to make truffles and it was outstandingly rich and complex.

Dark Chocolate Organic Peanut Butter by Every Rosemary Has Its Thorns is a blend of dark chocolate and peanut butter spiked with rosemary. It’s, well, different. The chocolate peanut butter is rich and creamy, but the herbal flavor of the rosemary sneaks up on you and, for us, not in a pleasant way. If you’re a serious rosemary fan, you may like this, but for us, we haven’t acquired the taste for it.

Red Pepper Jam from Jammy Yummy is a fun concoction of red pepper, sugar, vinegar and water. It offers the bright flavor of sweet red peppers with just the right sweet-tart balance of vinegar and sugar. This one would be terrific served with a salty cheese, with chicken, or on sandwiches.

Chai Spice Dulce Infused Caramel is uber-silky. It’s like an intriguing spicy custard. This is one you could use as a topping on a good vanilla ice cream.

7 Salad Dressing by Balsamo’s Family Kitchen is an oil and red wine vinegar-based salad dressing with just a tasty blend of turmeric, cayenne, paprika and black pepper. A bit of sugar balances out the vinegar. We love this on tender butter lettuce with a scattering of our favorite veggies. Delish!

Ginger Gershwin from the American Juice Company is part of Hatchery’s mixology offerings. This blend, which contains ginger, oranges, lemons and cane sugar, is mixed with your favorite spirit and soda or tonic water for a gingery cocktail.

Hatchery Chocolate Lover

We ordered the Hatchery’s Chocoholic Bundle and weren’t disappointed.

Orange Zest Goat Milk Fudge Sauce by Beekman 1802 was our editor’s super-favorite. This stuff is crazy good. “Sauce” is a misnomer because this stuff is so thick (and so incredibly delicious) you’ll want to eat it with a spoon. It’s got the flavor of rich dark chocolate with just a hint of orange. Love it!
