Coffee So Good: Creamy, Dairy-free Cold Brew

Coffee So Good bottlesCold brew coffee is the new craze among java lovers. Cold brew isn’t just iced coffee. It’s coffee that’s brewed with room temperature or cold water over a 12 to 24-hour brew time. The result is a concentrated coffee that’s usually cut 50/50 with water. The resulting drink is full-bodied with mellow flavors and is a little less acidic than regular iced coffee. And Coffee So Good has come out with a new wrinkle on cold brew–organic, dairy-free, caffeinated cold brew made with creamy cashew milk.

Organic and non-GMO ingredients are two reasons to love the Coffee So Good products.

Because of the popularity of cold brew coffee and the long brewing times involved to make cold brew at home, a number of companies have come out with bottled cold brew. The problem is that many of these beverages are loaded with not-to-healthful ingredients. Not so with Coffee So Good’s cold brew. They’re packed with plant-based protein because they’re made with raw cashews. They’re also made with only organic, non-GMO ingredients and contain no preservatives, additives or fillers. Each cold brew coffee has 4 grams of protein, 160 calories and 9 grams of sugar.

Instead of using heat to pasteurize ingredients, which can change flavors, textures and the nutritional value of ingredients, they use High Pressure Processing (HPP) to kill harmful bacteria. This results in a beverage that doesn’t need preservatives and that stays fresh, unopened in the refrigerator for up to 45 days.

Coffee So Good cold brew is packed in locally-sourced, 100% recycled and recyclable PET, BPA-free, and Phthalate-free 10-ounce bottles, making them perfect for a grab-and-go beverage.

Real Food Traveler’s editors sampled all five of Coffee So Good’s flavors: Cashew Mocha; Vanilla Nutte; Cashew Coffee; Lavender Nutte; and Cashew Chai. Flavors come from real ingredients like French lavender and raw cacao, and never from “natural” or artificial flavors or concentrates. Here’s a run-down of each flavor:

Coffee So Good Cashew Chai

Coffee So Good products are packed with flavor.

Cashew Mocha. This flavor is addictive and, like all the Coffee So Good flavors, super creamy. It contains cold brew coffee, raw cashews, raw cacao, agave nectar and sea salt and has just the right balance of mocha-goodness. The flavors were so rich, I found myself wanting to chew this one!

Cashew Coffee. This beverage doesn’t contain quite the mocha richness of Cashew Mocha and tastes more like a coffee latte.

Vanilla Nutte. The essence of vanilla is clearly present in Vanilla Nutte.

Lavender Nutte. Lavender with my coffee isn’t my first choice and Lavender Nutte was my least favorite. However, the notes of lavender are pretty subtle and, if you’re a lavender fan, you’ll like this one.

Cashew Chai. You can smell the spiciness of Cashew Chai even before you taste it. Clove, cinnamon and cardamom give this one an exotic flavor. If you’re a chai fan, Cashew Chai will make you happy.
