I’m not a patient coffee drinker. I want my coffee first thing in the morning and I want it NOW. I also want it to taste great. Enter: Bonavita’s new 8-cup Coffee Brewer with Stainless Steel lined Thermal Carafe.

I first met the Bonavita coffeemaker at a friend’s home. Since this person is a serious coffee connoisseur, I knew we had to field test the Bonavita Coffee Maker for realfoodtraveler.com readers. We weren’t disappointed.

Bonavita’s 8-cupper is simple and elegant. With just one press of the button, we made amazingly smooth coffee. While there’s an auto shut-off, there’s no pre-programmed feature or other unneeded options. It’s simple and straightforward.

Unlike many coffee brewers, Bonavita's 8-cup brewer doesn't take up a lot of counter space.

The Bonavita Coffee Maker’s 1500-watt heater heats the water to 195-205 degrees F, the perfect temperature range for brewing coffee. The optional pre-infusion mode wets the grounds before brewing (this ‘opens’ the grounds and releases more flavor). The flat-bottomed filter basket and large showerhead provide better saturation of the coffee grounds for maximum flavor extraction.

And, unlike many auto brew coffee makers, the Bonavita 8-cup brewer features a steel lined thermal carafe for keeping coffee hot. As any coffee drinker knows, heat is the enemy of brewed coffee, so the thermal carafe keeps the coffee hot without additional heat. (If you pre-heat the carafe by adding hot water, pop on the lid and allow the metal to heat up before brewing, the carafe, like any good thermos, stays hot longer.)

The BPA-free carafe lid, filter basket, and shower head are all dishwasher safe.

However, for me, the best thing about Bonavita Coffee Maker its speed. You can make a pot of deliciously uber-smooth coffee in about two minutes. We compared another popular brewer and it took a full seven minutes. Bonavita produces great coffee fast. Just what I need.
