I’d just mentioned to RFT Editor Anne Weaver that her travel tea cup was looking pretty gross. Then we got an email from Bottle Bright, a company that makes all natural, biodegradable cleaners for hard-to-clean containers. In recent years, savvy travelers have started bringing their own water bottles and sturdy travel cups when they travel. They also indicate it can take as long as 8 hours for really dirty containers and I found this to be true with Anne’s cup and others I cleaned.
I left the cup soaking overnight and, in the morning, all the brown stuff that had been impossible to scrub off had simply melted away. A quick rinse and the cup looked brand new. Anne used the cup and reported that the cup rinsed cleanly and there was no aftertaste from Bottle Bright.

I was so excited about these results, I searched through the cupboards in RFT’s offices and cleaned several travel coffee cups and a two narrow, bullet-style metal thermoses. In each case, the result was the same: a multi-hour soak resulted in clean-as-a-whistle containers.
Bottle Bright doesn’t just work on insulated metal coffee cups either. Those plastic pet self-watering containers are impossible to clean.
