Meet the Couple Behind Enjoy Corpus Christi Tours

One of the best ways to be introduced to a new destination you’ve traveled to is with a guided tour. It’s the easiest way to get the lay of the land, learn some history, get some insider tips, and discover places you want to go back to during your visit. When my husband Jimmy (Real Food Traveler’s Eco-Friendly Food, Travel & Adventure Editor) and I were in Corpus Christi, Texas, we met another husband-and-wife team, Susan and Rene Trevino, owners of Enjoy Corpus Christi Tours and, sitting around their dining table, recorded this episode of the Real Food Traveler Podcast.

During this informative and fun conversation on the Real Food Traveler Podcast, we learn about how their business got started (it was quite the switch from their previous careers). We hear about what they offer in terms of tours (new offerings are coming), and some great tips for what to see, do and eat in Corpus Christi, Texas (you don’t want to miss this!).

Susan and Rene love traveling but also love their homebase of Corpus Christi. So, in 2017, they decided to combine their passions and start the tour company – but it wasn’t quite as simple as that. They tell us about how it began (which involves Rene NOT getting to take it easy in his easy chair!).

They tell us about some of the tours they run, both set ones available on their website but also ones they can custom-create with a little notice. Here’s the link to the list of offerings. They include history, ghost, culture and nature tours.

Susan and Rene also tell us about the new food tours they’ll be offering in 2026. That’s right up Real Food Traveler’s alley! Jimmy and I may just need to return to go on one.

In the podcast, Susan and Rene gave us a lot of suggestions for local restaurants to try and they suggest specific things to order there. Some of the restaurants they list are:

Doc’s Seafood and SteaksEl Muelle de San Blas, Nolan’s RestaurantOl’ Steakhouse Co., U & I Steak and Seafood Restaurant, Water Street Oyster Bar and the Corpus Christi-founded Whataburger.

Learn more about Susan and Rene and Enjoy Corpus Christi Tours on their website and be sure to include their tours in your visit to Corpus Christi, Texas.
