Phyter Bars a Travel Go-To

Phyter Bars review

As a snack or meal replacement, plant-based Phyter Bars are our new go-to food on-the-run.

You know how it is. Sometimes, whether you’re rushing around through your day at home or rushing to catch your flight or train, hunger and energy plummets get in the way. Because I’m always looking for a healthy, quick, completely portable way to keep myself nourished while on-the-go, I was interested in trying  Phyter bars, a whole new take on veggie consumption.

Handcrafted by Chef David Choi Jr., Phyter bars are:

  • organic
  • GMO-free
  • made with low-glycemic coconut sugar
  • gluten-free, soy-free and dairy-free
  • kosher and vegan
  • no chemicals, preservatives, added oils or fats
  • are available in some stores (check the website) or can be purchased from the website itself.

The flavors are: Sweet Potato & Coconut, Beets & Cocoa, Cranberry and Strawberry and Butternut Squash & Peanut butter. None of the flavors were super-pronounced so I didn’t get the sense that I was eating a beet, or a butternut squash for instance. They just tasted good! I appreciated that they weren’t all dry, requiring me to have a water bottle at-the-ready. And they were clean and easy to eat, in a wrapped bar form – no crumbles down my front – thank you! The bars can be frozen or refrigerated. I kept mine in the fridge until it was time to pack. They last for seven days outside of the refrigerator as long as the package remains sealed. They were my go-to as I traveled!

Best of all, one bar kept me contentedly full for a few hours – enough time to get from one place to another without the hangries creeping up. While Phyter bars are not a protein bar per se, they have plant-based proteins and are just full of healthful ingredients that did the trick.

Phyter bars are a REAL winner for us!
