Fields with varying shades of blue and purple bursts of lavender plants, set against reddish rock formations. It’s an increasingly common scene in the Grand Junction and Palisade regions of Colorado, on the “Western Slope” of the Rocky Mountains. Near-perfect growing conditions help the plants grow, right along with fruit orchards and vineyards. It’s a beautiful, pastoral scene for sure.

June 29-July 1, 2018, Grand Junction will be the sight of the Colorado Lavender Festival. We’re planning on going and will bring you live coverage from the fragrant festival. In advance of the festival though, we wanted to know more about the lavender farming industry and what it’s really like to grow lavender as a crop. We went right to the source, Paola Legarre, owner of Sage Creations Organic Farm in Palisade, Colorado.
