In Northwestern Arkansas, in the city of “Rogers,” is Ozark Beer Company, in a building with a big front porch and lots of long picnic-type tables. They have a focus on facilitating community-making brewed up with beer-making. In this episode of the Real Food Traveler Podcast, meet my guest Marty Shutter, Marketing Director of Ozark Beer Co., and learn about the unique approach they have to their beer, cocktails and other beverages, plus their efforts that go way beyond just something to sip.

I first met Marty when I and my fellow group of travel journalists visited Ozark Beer Co. during a visit to Rogers, Arkansas. Not much of a beer drinker myself, I was a little reluctant to try the beers but did, in the form of a flight. I figured, it wouldn’t be so bad to try smaller quantities of several very different styles of their beers, you know, just to test them out. Well, I loved all of them! That had never happened for me before, even when I’ve done a flight of beer other places. There was just something different about Ozark’s beers.

Marty stopped by our table and I told him about my unusual reaction to the beers and that got us talking. I was so intrigued by what Marty had to say about the way they create their beers and how they approach their connection to the community (both residents and visitors). I knew I had to have him on as a guest on the Real Food Traveler Podcast. So, enjoy our conversation and discover, like I did, what makes Ozark Beer Company so special – until you can go in and experience it for yourself, in Rogers, Arkansas.
