Talking Travel and Food with FoodTravelist

One of the biggest things that has come out of the global pandemic, is a rethinking of how we are spending our lives. When life feels so uncertain and we’re on edge every day, it’s only natural to start re-evaluating the what, why, how, and when of our lives. Diana Laskaris and Sue Reddel, founders of the FoodTravelist.com blog, were already thinking about their next big move in life when the pandemic hit. Listen to our podcast conversation with them in which we talk travel and food, Twitter chats, and making big changes.

Hungry for more? Hear to RealFoodTraveler writers talk about travel writing during the pandemic.

In our podcast, we learn how Sue and Diana’s culinary travel blog got started and why the #FoodTravelChat Twitter Chat they started was a natural outgrowth of their website. We also find out what’s happening with that Twitter Chat that involves Real Food Traveler!

Sue and Diana have traveled all over the world but, at a point in their lives, decided that seeing the world while being based in the U.S. wasn’t quite enough. It was time for a big change so they sold most of their belongings and took their pets and moved to another country (you’ll find out where, when you listen). Of course, it wasn’t as easy as just packing up and moving – there’s a lot involved in moving to a new country and they talk about that in the podcast.

We talk about the benefits of experiencing the local cuisine wherever you’re visiting (or living), including meeting the people involved, getting to know the ingredients, and tasting the flavors – those benefits go beyond just something good to eat.

We talk about a lot more but I won’t spoil it for you – click the player, above, to get started.

Also, Sue and Diana refer to a book they wrote during the pandemic, prompted by the big changes they, themselves, were going through, and in answer to so many questions from others. It’s called What Should I Do Now? A 14-day Jumpstart Program to Get Unstuck, Make Decisions, and Take Control of Your Work and Life by Diana Laskaris and Sue Reddel and you can get it on Amazon using this affiliate link. Be sure to check out their website, FoodTravelist.com too.
