Spa Spotlight: Mii amo at Enchantment Resort, Sedona, Arizona
If you’re looking for a sun-drenched escape from the winter doldrums, the aptly-named Enchantment Resort, home of Mii amo destination spa, checks all the boxes.
For starters, there’s the weather. Unlike the frosty winter days in the High Sierra where I live, winter days in Sedona hover in the eternally sunny 60s. While snow is possible and can dust the red rocks, it often melts quickly due to the sun, with accumulation being rare.
But there’s so much more. Nestled in a red rock wilderness where sand-meets-stars, the 25-year-old spa has an intoxicating sage-scented vibe that’s guaranteed to cleanse your senses, expand your horizons, and send you home invigorated—and maybe even with a new meditation habit.
Part of Enchantment Resort’s grounds, but separate from the main complex, the transformative, adults-only Mii amo (“Journey Forward” in the local Native American dialect) is a 24,000-square-foot destination spa with 23 casitas, a dedicated pool, and a new regionally-inspired restaurant. Set in a timeless canyon inhabited by five Native American tribes for eons, Mii amo comes by its healing energy naturally.
Following a massive renovation in 2023, the luxury Relais & Châteaux property now has a two-story movement and fitness studio, a consultation wing, reflexology path, and a new restaurant, Hummingbird, whose dishes incorporate ingredients from a nearby garden. The circular crystal grotto is still the heart of the property, with daily meditation sessions. Mii amo also offers a comprehensive daily calendar of fitness classes, workshops, and lectures and (if you need another place to relax) boasts a new sunken living room-style lounge with a fireplace.

Between its stunning natural setting and $40 million renovation, it’s easy to see why Mii amo has won countless accolades. It was named the 2025 #1 destination spa in the U.S. by Travel & Leisure, the top spa in the U.S. by Conde Nast Traveler, and a top spa by many others, from Oprah Daily to Forbes. Mii amo is also Gwyneth’s reputed favorite desert hideout.
Mii amo now offer offers five all-inclusive “Journeys” (see below) of three, four, seven, or 10 nights, which includes three meals a day at the on-site restaurant, unlimited non-alcoholic drinks, a daily credit that can be used at the spa or the Enchantment Resort’s Trail House for hiking and biking excursions, and access to private lounges and locker rooms at the spa.

A room with a view
Mii amo’s rose-colored adobe casitas blend in seamlessly with the red-rock landscape, echoing the clean, sparse environs while encasing you in a protective bubble of swank. Flames dance long into the dark from the kiva fireplace, end tables are fashioned of live-edge tree trunks, and spacious bathrooms have heated floors and glass-walled rain showers. Outside, casitas overlook private courtyards and looming red cliffs.

A Journey just for you at Mii amo
Co-creation is the name of the game at Mii amo. Every guest is assigned a personal Journey Guide to work alongside them to set intentions, whether it’s recharging, unwinding, learning new ways to get fit, live longer, or better communicate with family and friends.
To that end, Mii amo offers five all-inclusive Journeys – Connection, Quiet Quest, Discovery, Longevity, and Recharge – packed with curated mind-body, physical, and fitness components designed to help guests achieve their goals.
For instance, the Connection Journey offers partner yoga and massage, and compassionate communication. Quiet Quest features Reiki healing and sketching in nature. Recharge features chakra balancing, active recovery massage, and mountain biking along red rock trails.
All Journeys also come with A-to-Z fitness, wellness and spirituality classes in The Fitness and Movement Studios. Nestled in breathtaking Boynton Canyon, Mii amo looks out on a rugged 400-mile-long trail network that was born for mountain biking and hiking. Guests can enjoy guided biking through the diverse landscape and remote beauty of the high desert, or sign up for a variety of hikes, including vortex/meditation hikes to energy centers; sunset, full moon, and starry night rambles; birdwatching and photography hikes; and hikes to cliff dwellings and archeological sites inhabited by the Sinagua Tribe from 650-1300 A.D. Guided hikes in the Grand Canyon are also offered.

Mii amo’s culinary cornerstone
Every Journey at Mii amo also includes three fresh, healthy meals served in Hummingbird, the spa’s new signature restaurant. Designed to be an airy, light-filled space by day and a tranquil, candlelit space by night, the restaurant sources seasonal produce from its own Chef’s Garden as well as from nearby farms, ranches, and orchards. With a culinary philosophy of “simplicity perfected,” Chef Zach creates cuisine that’s as clean as it is nutritious and delicious.
Mii amo may be a wellness spa, but there’s no starving or depriving here. In addition to meals at Hummingbird, guests can enjoy fresh juices by day and a full wine service by night at the spa’s Juice Bar. Guests eager to improve their own green thumb can attend Chef’s Garden tours to learn about plant cycles and sustainability and enjoy tastings of fresh produce from the garden.

Grilled salmon, vegetables and lentils are an example of the clean, healthful eating at Hummingbird restaurant at Mii amo.
