I was really excited to do a compression socks review. You see, I stand a lot. I sit a lot. I fly a lot. I drive a lot. I walk a lot. Compression socks are a must for someone like me. Whether you’re wearing compression socks for long flights, when at a desk for hours, or just day-to-day, they are beneficial. They’d may as well look good too. I’m proud to show off these stylish compression socks in the TSA line!
With a gentle pressure, compression socks help keep fluids from settling in your lower legs and feet. While doing some twisting of your ankles, and flexing of your legs can help prevent fluid (including blood) from settling, and the uncomfortable and unsightly swelling that results, nothing quite does the trick like compression socks. Fend off spider veins, varicose veins, and swelling. And most importantly use compression socks for DVT (deep vein thrombosis) prevention – all in the most fashionable ways! I was given a pair of Dr. Segal’s cotton blend compression socks to try them out. I put them through the ringer. Here’s my verdict:
Stylish Compression Socks Review
Love ’em! Plain and simple. I liked that the cotton blend compression socks come in a variety of patterns and colors – a far cry from the more clinical, beige or white versions people are advised to wear once swelling and vericose veins become a real problem. In fact, the striped pair I received made me feel a little Dr. Seussian, combining Fox in Socks with Green Eggs and Ham! I wore them…
On a plane:
I was more than willing to reveal my blue striped tootsies as I went through Security. Bonus – a doctor once told me to always wear socks going through Security because of the plethora of foot fungai that hang around there. Gross. May as well look styling while I strut through the metal detector! Once on board for my 3-1/2 hour flight, in very cramped quarters, I was SO glad I was wearing the compression socks for flying. I still did my ankle rotations and pumped my legs up and down (what are YOU looking at, person next to me who should be doing the same thing!). But that was more to ward off the heebie-jeebies and not because I was feeling my lower legs and feet swell, like usual.
On a walk:
While traveling, we were on our feet a ton, strolling around the city, popping into museums, and waiting for buses. I was very conscious of the fact that, normally, after this much standing and walking, my legs would be killing me and I’d be feeling my ankles swell. I didn’t feel that at all, wearing the Dr. Segal’s Compression Socks.
In a chair:
I sit a lot while writing and editing articles and photos. A lot! While wearing the socks, I was conscious of my legs feeling energized. That’s just the best way to put it and is in keeping with what the packaging says: Dr. Segal’s Energy Socks.
My only complaint was that, when they inevitably slipped down a little, the excess material gathered at my ankle. If I wasn’t in position (literally) to pull them up, the tightness was uncomfortable and, I knew, couldn’t be good for circulation.
Be sure to watch the video on the website that explains how to put the socks on. Because they are so snug, it isn’t the same as putting on other socks.
Dr. Segal’s Energy Socks, are the best compression socks I’ve worn for flying. With one pair at-the-ready in my suitcase and another in my sock drawer for day-to-day. As with all of our reviews, while I was provided with a pair of socks to facilitate the review, my opinions are honest and true, and reflect my real life use of them.
