After my stay at Pueblo Bonito Los Cabos, my outlook on “all inclusive” has changed forever. We won’t go into my first experience with the concept, years ago in Florida. All I really remember is standing in long buffet lines, only to end up with bland-tasting, boring-looking food that I had to dish up myself.

Hungry for more? Lisa learned to make cheese in Hawaii.

At Pueblo Bonito Pacifica, it was exactly the opposite, and now I’m an enthusiastic all-inclusive fan for life. I was happily overwhelmed with the impeccable service; the beautiful, Instagram-worthy plating; and the incredible tastes. And so many choices! There are four restaurants and four bars at Pueblo Bonito Pacifica alone, plus guests can choose from 23 other restaurants and 12 other bars at nearby Pueblo Bonito sister locations. Some require a small surcharge, but it’s absolutely worth it. There simply weren’t enough meals in the day for me to be able to visit every location, but I tried.

The culinary team at Pueblo Bonito doesn’t stop there, however. Here are just a few of the culinary experiences guests can book:

“Chef on Fire” at Pueblo Bonito Pacifica

What’s more amazing than watching a stunning Cabo sunset? Getting to watch it while the chef prepares a three-course gourmet dinner right in front of you! Every Thursday night at the VIP Lounge at the Towers at Pacifica, you can savor a starter, main course, and delectable dessert as you watch Mother Nature’s spectacular show over the water. I would say to get there early for the best seats, but there isn’t a bad seat in the house!

The “Hook & Cook” experience at Pueblo Bonito Pacifica

You’re relaxing at an amazing resort… do you really want to catch your own meal? Yes!! Surf-casting (with lots of patient help from the staff, of course) is a unique experience that shouldn’t be missed. It was a bit windy the day I tried it, and the fishing pole was more than twice my height, and sadly I didn’t catch anything. But my oceanfront lunch still featured fresh-caught fish. I especially enjoyed the ceviche bar, complete with homemade smoked salsas and infused oils.

Chef-Led Cooking Classes

You’re relaxing at an amazing resort… do you really want to cook? Yes! This was one of my favorite experiences of the entire trip. We got to select our own fresh vegetables and herbs during a guided tour of the resort’s onsite orchard, then we used them while learning to make fresh salsa, then roasted chilies stuffed with smoked marlin. Our freshly prepared meal was paired with local wines, and we ate it under the shade of a huge umbrella. It was a perfect afternoon.

“Private Table at the Orchard” at Pueblo Bonita Pacifica Golf & Spa Resort

Couples or private groups up to six people can take a sensory, four-course journey through local food and wines during this special experience that includes mesmerizing beach views. Fresh-caught seafood is accented with vegetables and herbs from the resort’s orchard and thoughtfully paired with a selection of award-winning wines from the Guadalupe Valley. I met a couple at the pool bar who had scheduled the private table for their small wedding rehearsal dinner the following evening. Good idea!

The “Sunset Teepee” Experience

Imagine a romantic, four-course gourmet meal served inside a re-creation of an indigenous hut, right on the beach. My husband and I booked this experience to celebrate our anniversary. First, we were ushered down to the water by our butler, and we could hear the traditional conch shell greeting signaling that the sunset would soon be at its most spectacular point. As the sun went down, we got to watch the chef prepare our meal tableside. The hut we cozied up in is similar to those used by natives for shelter and for stargazing… and stargazing is exactly what we did after dinner (of course we were too full too move anyway). We sipped craft cocktails as we listened to the waves lapping against the shore. It was an anniversary I’ll never forget.
